Buyer didn't show for arranged pick up
I sold an item and it was for local pick up only. The buyer paid eBay of course for my item. He contacted me and we arranged for pick up at my apartment complex. He wanted to communicate via WhatsApp which I said was OK. I think language might be a barrier based on our few texts. He said he'd arrive at the agreed time/place. After that, I haven't heard from him. I texted numerous times to confirm. I called. I lugged the 50 pound item to my apartment lobby to meet him thinking maybe he didn't understand my desire for him to confirm he was coming. I waited in my lobby area for 45 min and called and texted him a few times. No response.
I am frustrated. I do hope he is OK and nothing bad has happened, but I suspect that isn't the case.

I hate selling stuff in the first place for these kind of issues, but this is kind of a specialty item and it was pricey when I bought it new. I am not using it, so thought I'd get it sold instead of letting it sit around and de-value even more.
What are my next steps? If he contacts me again to try and re-connect, I'd rather not waste that time.

The buyer contacted me a few hours after the agreed upon meet time that he didn't show up for. It turns out he isn't in the country, and his cousin is going to pick up the item. His cousin apparently lives within 20 minutes of me. He also apologized stating he didn't have an adequate cell signal to respond at the time. I responded to him asking when his cousin could come and to make sure his cousin has the code Ebay had sent to verify exchange.

Sometimes things happen, I would stop messaging him, it sounds like you tried more than enough times. He paid, he knows how to contact you, ball is in his court. Don't spend the money, just wait to see what he does next.

Mentor2 years agoIf he contacts you again, you can either state that you will refund him, or have him call you when he gets to your apartment complex and then you will bring the item down to the lobby.
