Buyer didn't pay for item and the pending got automatically dropped

I've got a mess on my hands - a buyer bought an item and he was having trouble getting Paypal to work and I told him I would hold it for a week for him. On the 8th day, Ebay automatically dropped the pending and another buyer bought the item and paid for it. Now, the other buyer is enraged, demanding action for me to confront Ebay for removing the pending transaction... on the 7th day, I told him after he changed the conditions that I would hold it another day, but Ebay didn't hold it and now... I feel like I'm in hot water. Help me community... what am I to do... this first buyer will not stop demanding restitution!

-Add Buyer #1 to your Blcoked list on this page, you are allowed to block 5,000 members without giving a reason: Buyer management | eBay The Buyer still may be able to message you, once blocked just delete their messages unread.

-Ship the item to Buyer #2 who purchased it and congrats on the sale. It is NOT your fault Buyer #1 couldn't figure out how to pay for the item.

-Buyer #1 will NOT be able to leave Feedback since they did not purchase from you.

Try this:

Go to Buyer Management.
Decide which requirements youâ€™d like to apply to your listings, and enter any details requested.
To have settings apply to all active and future listings, select Apply above settings to active and future listings. Otherwise your settings will apply only to future listings.
By default, blocked buyers are still able to contact you about your listings. If you donâ€™t want buyers blocked by your requirements to contact you, select Donâ€™t allow blocked buyers to contact you in Site Preferences (they may still be able to get in touch with you through an Item Not Received case or a Return if itâ€™s about an existing transaction). Then select Submit.

Click the 3 dots to the far right of the user ID and click Report Buyer. I'm told there is also a Block Buyer, but I did not see that option.

Historically eBay allowed communication on an actual transaction even if the Buyer was blocked on all other items. However, if memory serves messages were blocked after 60 days on ANY transaction. They may have made some changes to that over time so messages from that Buyer may or may not persist on your transaction, that is why I suggested deleting them unread. Buyer #1 may not be someone you want to do business with anyway after what happened.
