Buyer did not read the description
Summary: A participant sought advice after a buyer claimed an item was not authentic due to a misunderstanding about its description. The item sold was a 'toilette', whereas the buyer's comparison item was a 'parfum'. tchoice1 is willing to accept a return but feels they should not cover shipping costs as the description was clear. lady_madonna advised that if the buyer claimed the item did not match the description under the eBay Money Back Guarantee, a full refund including shipping would be required.
Dear Community,
I find myself in a situation where a buyer has purchased an item from me and is claiming that it is not authentic. They conducted a comparison with another item they possess, and although pictures were sent, it seems they did not realize that the item I provided was distinct from theirs. My item's description clearly stated that it was a 'toilette', whereas theirs was 'parfum'.
I am open to accepting a return; however, I believe I should not be responsible for the shipping costs, as the issue did not arise from my mistake. I would appreciate your advice on how best to proceed in this matter.
Thank you for your assistance.

When an eBay buyer opens a Not As Described claim, eBay cares nothing for facts, truth, or substantiation. They automatically side with the buyer.
Your best action is to accept the return, provide the prepaid return shipping label, and do NOT refund until you have the item back in your hands. If you're lucky, the buyer will procrastinate and not get around to sending the item back.
If you resist the return, refuse, or otherwise drag your feet until three days have elapsed, a link appears in the claim "Ask eBay to Step In and Help". If the buyer uses that, then eBay will
• refund the buyer out of your account
• almost certainly not require the buyer to return the item
• not credit you back the fees they have charged
• issue a Defect on your account
