Buyer damaged item, trying to blame me
I sold some computer memory, the item was perfect and tested when shipped. The buyer received the item and almost a month later is complaining a component from the circuit board is missing (capacitor) the listing pictures clearly show it present at the time of listing, and I know for certian the item was perfectly intact when shipped. I asked the buyer to look for the dislodged component in the packaging in case it was shipment damage, but they are slow to respond and are not exactly understanding what im saying i need them to verify. At this time, they are well beyond the 30-day period and the item was sold in as-is condition without warranty. They requested half of the money back (as it was for 2 RAM sticks)
How can i handle this situation? I have reason to believe they damaged the component themselvs and are trying to blame it on me.

Did they provide pictures with the alleged damage claim? If not message them and ask for pictures for your records and then wait.
I suspect the Buyer did damage the item, a capacitor soldered to a circuit board doesn't just fall off the board.
For whatever reason the Buyer is trying to scam you for half the cost they paid, that's what it sounds like to me.
They are only covered for 30 days from confirmed delivery by the eBay MBG but can file a claim through their funding source. If they do eBay will wash their hands of the transaction. eBay will then have to try and protect you against the dispute. If eBay wins the dispute you keep the money, if they lose you refund the Buyer plus pay an additional $ 20 for losing the dispute.
I would suggest using the Report Buyer link on the sold item and alert eBay of an issue, they are making what I assume to be a false claim if they have not provided pictures and of course they waited way too long to do anything.

The eBay Money Back Guarantee protects a Buyer's purchase for up to 30 days from delivery. If it is past that timeframe, you can let the Buyer know that as much as you would like to help them, they are past the eBay return window.
They could still file a chargeback with their payment company. If they do that, eBay will let you know and what Seller Protections you may have.
The key point is you are not required to refund them if it is beyond 30 days from delivery.
