Buyer contacted me through messages. They asked me to list the item. After posting auction, someone.
Else won auction. Buyer #1 wants me to cancel others bid

·11 months agoeBay items cannot be reserved for specific buyers, and if you cancel the order, not only will you get a defect on your seller metrics, but you may well receive negative feedback from the buyer who purchased it. I would apologize to the first person, who asked for it but did not actually make the purchase, and ship it to the customer who did purchase it.
In the future, what can help is to list the item at a very high price, but allow offers and just tell the buyer to offer whatever amount you agreed on. Then you can only accept that buyer’s offer, and it’s extremely unlikely that anyone else will purchase it at the high price.
Or, I often just list things as “Custom Listing†without much if any detail, and send the item number to the customer. That greatly reduces the chance that someone else would find it and purchase it. I do still always include at least one accurate photo of the item, plus a description of its condition.
