Buyer claims they were delivered an empty poly bag that was cut open with no item from usps
Hi,
can use some advice here. I was contacted by a buyer that claims they were delivered an empty poly bag with the bottom cut open and a small hole near the top. Needless to say the clothing item was gone. I’m no expert but I do have a tough time believing USPS would deliver an empty cut open poly bag? How would you suggest I handle this (seller(me) files claim / seller(me) just refunds and eats this sale / buyer files claim)???? Also, Is there an easy way through eBay to file a usps claim as the one saying to use the shipping page and item drop down doesn’t have a claim option like they said it does.
thanks in advance

Usually a damaged package is delivered in a plastic bag with a 'we care' letter of apology, but not always. Sometimes they do miss the damage. There is just no way to tell.
Ask the buyer for several photos of the bag, and ask them to hang onto it since they may have to take it to their PO for inspection. Then file your claim at https://www.usps.com/help/claims.htm.
I would ask the buyer to open a not as described return, so that her claim is documented, but then use the 'refund buyer now' option in the return request. No point in paying return shipping for an empty mailer.
