buyer claims broken item
Summary: hifinancy inquires about eBay's policy on items broken during shipping, sharing an incident where a buyer reported receiving a broken candle despite careful packaging. They suspect the buyer might have damaged it post-delivery and seek advice on handling the situation.
hi there, doesn't Ebay have a policy that if an item gets broken in the mail that they will stand behind you? I recently mailed out a small candle, packed super well, fragile written all over the package, purchased eBay postage and mailed it off. The buyer sent a picture of the glass candle broken. I asked her if the box had signs of damage, she said no. I am wondering if she might have dropped it and broken it herself??? anyway, what to do?
Thanks for all the help!

Ebay has a 30-day Money Back Guarantee. If a Buyer receives a damaged item, they need to open an Item Not as Described refund request on eBay. You will then have only three business days to respond.
If the Buyer has sent photos showing the broken item, you will need to refund in full. If you want her to return the broken item, that will void your insurance coverage.
