Buyer Cancelled my purchase

Question

I purchased an item on Ebay and buyer cancelled the sale because they said they were going to sell the item locally not through ebay. Is that a violation of Ebay rules

Do you mean the SELLER cancelled the transaction? What reason was given? If the seller stated Out of stock, ebay will record a defect on the seller's account. Too many defects and the seller can be restricted or suspended. If the seller stated that you requested the cancellation, you can report the seller.

1. Select The seller has violated one of eBay s policies and click Continue.
2. On the next page, enter the seller's ID and select Other.
3. In the comment section, write "Seller cancelled order stating xxxx in order to avoid a defect.
