Buyer cancellation - feels like a scam
Hi
A brand new buyer (0 feedback) bought an item I am selling and then immediately (<1 minute later) asked to cancel the transaction. It was an item for pick-up so the funds are listed as “on holdâ€.
If I accept the cancellation, what happens money-wise? This feels like a scam, given the 0 feedback and the immediate cancellation request.
Should I go ahead and accept the cancellation?

First, I see you are in the UK, this is the US Community so you might want to try logging into the eBay UK site and post there.
I checked your Sold items on this account but nothing is showing, are you sure you don't mean they won an auction or have not paid for an Offer on the item? It's also possible that if the item was not set for International shipping we might not be able to see your Sold items here on the US domain.
Here in the US if a Buyer does not pay in 4 days we can Cancel on day 5 and the Buyer gets an Unpaid item strike on their account. You can cancel now if you want since the Buyer asked you to and then you select that reason on the Cancellation flow.
You can also block them for the future BUT, if they were Buying as a Guest they would have the (0) Feedback count ... so it may not be scam just someone who changed their mind.
In the end the choice is yours ...

OP2 years agoThanks for the feedback - didn’t realise it had taken me to the US forum so I’ll try there. Many thanks.
