Buyer bought shipping, but I had to rebox the product. Now costs more to ship
I messed up.
I just sold an item and to ensure the product arrives safely, I decided to rebox and repackage the product. It's only 1 oz. more than the original weight, but the box dimensions are larger (for more packing). If I edit the Package Details, it tells me it'll cost $4.00 more to ship (I'm using USPS Ground Advantage). This is my mistake, so I'm willing to cover the additional shipping cost, but not sure how that works when the buyer has already paid for shipping.
So if I purchase a shipping label via ebay with the new Package Details, will ebay automatically deduct the additional amount from my proceeds? Or will it be charged to the buyer? I searched for an answer which is why I'm posting here.

Mentor2 years agoThe buyer pays you what is displayed on the listing. When you purchase your shipping label, and change weight/dimensions as needed, you will be paying for the shipping out of your payout (or Paypal, whichever you select). The buyer is not charged for the extra cost. You are charged for the extra cost if you made the error. We've all been in the same place as you.

If you purchase your label through eBay you get a discount. You CANNOT charge the Buyer for more shipping and eBay will NOT charge the Buyer for more shipping. Buyers do not pay for Seller mistakes.
You have to eat the cost of your mistake, sorry, those are the rules. We see more mistakes in the area of Shipping for newer Sellers than other places. At times, one ounce or one inch can increase the shipping cost. It's happened to me too.

So will ebay just take the additional shipping costs from my payout? I'm just looking for what ebay does in these situations. Thanks again

Yes, eBay will take the cost of your label from your pending funds.
The parameters in your listing determine what the buyer pays and are unrelated to the information you use for purchasing your label other than provide default values. (The only stipulation there is that you cannot downgrade the shipping service if the buyer asks for that, but you can adjust the weight and package size or even upgrade as needed.)
