Buyer bought local pickup only to cancel and start did not receive case

Question

The item was local pickup only and customer bought and they live in another country. Now eBay wants me to cover the extra fees when the buyer made the mistake. I don’t have the extra money to cover it.

If the buyer paid immediately for the local pickup item, you could have cancelled the order without penalties giving as the reason "Buyer lives in a location I do not ship to". You may still be able to do that even if the funds are still on hold. The funds were always there but are being held by ebay.

You should not have to pay any fees for the cancellation since the buyer wanted the item shipped and not picked up. However, you may have run out of time to cancel, since it seems the last item you sold was on March 29th.

You can try reporting the buyer for violation of ebay policy, specifically "The buyer is demanding something that wasn’t offered in the original listing". Shipping to them when it was a local pickup only listing, in this case.
