Buyer Beware of Seller
Summary: mcarter256 purchased memory modules from a seller who sent the wrong item and requested a return to resolve the issue. After closing the initial return with the intent to open a new one, mcarter256 faced difficulties as the seller would not send the correct item until receiving the original back, and eBay has been unresponsive. momtoabeautifuldaughter advised against trusting the seller, while jacbarcollectibles suggested initiating a chargeback through the payment source. mcarter256 is considering disputing the transaction through PayPal or their credit union.
I purchased memory modules and seller sent the wrong memory and asked me to open a return but then complained about refunding to an ebay gift card. So, thinking I was helping the seller, I closed the return with intent to open a new return with refund to original payment method. Seller says he will send me correct item only after he receives wrong item.
I submitted a seller report on ebay and spoke to the resolution desk person four days ago but I cannot get anyone on the phone or get any help from ebay as they've not responded.
I have the shipping label from cancelled return, but I'm not sure if I can trust the seller, what should I do?

Mentor2 weeks agoeBay can no longer help since you closed the case. Go to your payment source and ask for a charge back. This will cost the seller a $20 penalty fee from eBay for having to handle the charge back.

OP2 weeks agoMy payment source is Paypal that charges my CC from a Credit Union. So do I go to the Credit Union or do I now have to submit a dispute at Paypal?

OP2 weeks agoI did a bit of research and went to my CC Company and requested a Charge Back as you mentioned. Not sure if this will work but thank you for the advice.

I probably wouldn't trust them, as they got you to close the case knowing you couldn't open a new one.
Also the seller ID will be removed from this post...as this is against eBay rules.
