Buyer auto pay?

It’s been a while since I sold but just had a buyer choose “auto pay” for a regular auction item and put in a date 7 days from sell date. I was under the impression that the 4 day rule for payment applied. How is it up to a buyer when they want to pay? Is there a new setting I’m missing? Thanks.

Yes, it is a new setting (within the last year) that you can control in your buyer requirements. You have the option to require auto pay for Offers and/or Auction listings. When this setting is checked the user will have to supply payment information in advance to be charged if they win or have the offer accepted. What you are seeing is that you must be offering combined shipping of your items. If you do this the on an auction listing the winner can hold off paying for up to 10 days so they can continue to make bids on other items so they could get combined shipping. If you do not want to do this then you can either stop offering combined shipping or you uncheck the auto pay for auctions. Then the normal payment requirements will be enforce for auctions.

You can go back to not requiring a payment method before bidding and cancel as unpaid on the 5th day after the sale if the buyer has not paid.

If you want to require buyers to provide a payment method before bidding BUT do want to allow the buyer to keep shopping for 7 days then you need to NOT allow invoices on this page> https://www.ebay.com/ship/prf Then the payment method that was provided will be charged one hour after sale.

Autopay is when you as a seller require buyers to provide a payment method before making a bid or offer.

If you require buyers to provide a payment method prior to bidding AND allow combined shipping in your account settings then the buyer may choose to keep bidding for 7 days before paying.
