Buyer asking to text
I had an offer made and the buyer messaged me saying he needed to ask questions before payment is sent but he can't message on ebay and wants me to text him. Is this a scam or does this happen often? I am a new seller so I am unsure.

Decline the offer and block the buyer Block buyer> https://www.ebay.com/bmgt/BuyerBlock?
You can also use the report option on the message.
All communication is done with eBay messages and all payments are made using eBay checkout. Do not ship until eBay says it's time to ship.
Have you set up your buyer requirements in account settings?
Click this link: https://www.ebay.com/bmgt/buyerrequirements Then block buyers with 2 or more unpaid items in 12 months.
Also block buyers in locations you do not ship to.
Then at the bottom of the screen look for buyer Payment Requirements put a check next to>>
Require buyers to provide a payment method before they place a bid.
Require buyers to provide a payment method before they make an offer.
These settings will cut down on your non paying buyer issues.

Mentor1 year agoWhen a buyer wants you to text them, it is usually the start of a scam. Keep all correspondence on ebay. ebay recently changed how messaging works, so send this to the buyer:
If you are using the new messaging system, start typing where it says SEND MESSAGE. The area will enlarge as you type. When done typing, click on that "paper airplane" looking arrow on the right side to send the message.
