Buyer asking for false refund
Summary: the_real_landon, who sells on eBay, is dealing with a refund request for a metal mesh that a buyer claims was rusted, contrary to the description. Although he included a clear photo and described the item as used, the listing mistakenly included "30 day returns accepted" due to new AI-generated descriptions. disneyshopper explains that with a stated 30-day return policy, the seller must accept the return for a 'not as described' reason and potentially refund the buyer to avoid account defects.
Hey guys! My name is Landon. I've been selling on eBay for a while, but never had anybody ask me for a refund. I shipped this metal mesh back the other day, and the buyer is asking for a refund because It was rusted and I "didn't put that in the description." I listed the item with a clear picture showing what he is describing, and listed the item as used and tarnished with wear. I had the setting no returns accepted on the listing. I feel like I could easily win this, if not for one thing. I had been testing out new AI descriptions, and this one said "30 day returns accepted" in the very bottom corner. Should I push back on this? Do you think I could win?
Thank you so much for the help, I'm very new at this :)

Mentor1 month ago@the_real_landon Your no return policy is only for buyers remorse returns such as changed mind, doesn't fit, etc.
If the buyer files a refund request saying that the item is not as described then you MUST accept the return and issue a return shipping label if you want the item back.
If you don't refund willingly then eBay will force a refund from your account, you will get a defect and won't get your sellers fees back.

Mentor1 month agoSellers with a 30 day return policy means the item is accepted regardless of the reason. With a No Returns policy, the seller can decline the return if it is a buyer's remorse reason (changed mind/didn't like it/found it cheaper elsewhere). For a not as described reason, you must accept the return and pay for return shipping if you want the item back. If you do not want the item back, you can simply refund in full. If you refuse, ebay can refund the buyer, you receive a defect on your account, you do not get the FVF credited, and the buyer does not need to return the item.
