buyer asked to talk outside of ebay before paying for item
Hello, I am a first time seller on ebay. I listed my item and was surprised to receive an offer shortly thereafter. I accepted the offer and then received a suspicious message from the buyer which read
"
Dear ***myusername***,
Good day, here is your buyer from eBay. Do chat me up on my number ***phone number*** thanks" "
This seems like a scam to me. I've already accepted their offer, is there anyway I can cancel this sale and relist my item without waiting? What if they make a payment, I ship them the item, and they file an empty box claim? They buyer has positive feedback from sellers going back a year, but I am just a little worried having never sold on ebay before and this doesn't seem normal to me.
Thanks!

They are trying to SCAM you.
Do NOT reply. All correspondence needs to go through Ebay,
After 4 days of non-payment have passed, cancel the transaction due to "buyer didn't pay".

Mentor3 years agoScammers generally don’t pay. Don’t respond to the message, and cancel as unpaid on day 5.
If you cancel sooner, you’ll have to select ‘I am out of stock’ which puts a defect (bad mark) on your account. If you feel strongly about it, it might be worth taking the defect and not have to worry about it. I would wait and do that only if the buyer pays.
