Buyerâ€™s selected payment included a much smaller package

Question

I have an item that is 24â€ x 16â€ x 5â€ ($21) but somehow the buyer selected payment for an item that is 16â€ x 13â€ x 3â€ paying $9.5 This is the first to me Iâ€™ve sold anything on eBay. The dimensions of my item are clearly stated, and are the same as the example item that I selected to match my item. What do I possibly need to do differently next time to make sure that the buyer correctly pays for shipping of the right sized packaging? Thank you for any help

It is not possible for a buyer to change the size of the shipping packaging. Buyers can only choose the shipping from the options you have listed for the item. Buyers have no idea what size and weight you showed when making the listing.

The shipping charge the buyer paid for your sold item is correct based on location. If they were within your state of Oregon, the shipping charge would be $9.50. For my state, the shipping charge would be $18.73.

Here's how to use calculated shipping when listing your items:

In the Shipping section of your listing, select Calculated: Cost varies by buyer location.
Next to Services, select Calculate Shipping.
In Package details in the Shipping Calculator, enter your package type, dimensions, and weight. (based on prepackaged item) If you're selling an irregularly shaped item, estimate its dimensions by measuring a box you can fit it in.
In the Your details section, enter your ZIP code and any handling fees.
Select Calculate shipping.
Select the shipping services you want to offer, and drag them into the order you want buyers to see them.
Select Offer shipping services.
Complete your listing.
