Buy It Now error by eBay
I have an item listed for a 7 day auction with no reserve price that received a bid and still had at least 4 days to go, and has 83 views and 5 watchers. The BIN did NOT disappear as it should have and a different buyer was able do BIN TWO DAYS after the first bid had been placed.
This is what eBay states about BIN:
"When someone bids, the Buy It Now option usually disappears; however, in the case of reserve price listings, the Buy It Now option remains until the reserve price is met. In some categories, the Buy It Now option may continue to be available after the first bid for a limited time."
What are my options given the BIN option was not disabled as it should have been? What I want to do is have eBay cancel the sale and let the auction run the remaining days.

You sell the item to the buyer. They made the purchase, so you ship to them when Ebay tells you they paid.
According to Ebay: When someone bids, the Buy It Now option usually disappears; however, in the case of reserve price listings, the Buy It Now option remains until the reserve price is met. In some categories, the Buy It Now option may continue to be available after the first bid for a limited time.
The only exceptions are the 4 categories in which the BIN option remains available until the bidding reaches 50% of the BIN price:
1. Parts & Accessories (eBay Motors)
2. Tickets
3. Clothing, Shoes & Accessories
4. Cell Phones & PDAs

OP3 years agoI posted the exact same language from eBay in my post. "May" continue to be available for a "limited time" when limited time is not defined is the problem.

It's a cell phone and the auction bidding HAD reached more than 50% of the BIN price. And the option STILL did not disappear. What process do I need to go through to have eBay fix this so the auction can run its course?

Your minimum/starting bid price was $39.99. Your BIN price was $51.99.
The bidding would have had to reach $45.99 in order for the BIN to disappear.
$51.99 - 39.99 = $12.00.
50% of $12 = $6.00.
Therefore the bidding would have had to be $6 more than your minimum bid ($45.99)

OP3 years agoThat calculation is 50% of *the difference* between the start price and the BIN price. Which is not the same as "50% of the BIN price"
