Bullying from Ebay
Summary: baldeagle*memorabilia expressed frustration with eBay for restricting their account and holding funds because they hadn't updated their ID in three years. They acknowledged the need for security but were upset about not being asked before the hold was placed. golfingaddict explained that this requirement is due to legal obligations and is part of the user agreement. inceptions suggested complying with the request to avoid losing selling privileges, explaining that eBay is required by law to obtain this information before transferring funds.
Why does ebay restrict my account and put a hold on funds when I've done nothing wrong? They want me to upload my ID becauseits been 3yrs since the last time I did so, I have no problem with that. It helps keep sellers identified & makes for a better ebay. What problem Im having is they NEVER asked for my ID before withholding my funds. They are holding my funds hostage until I comply. This is my problem. I dont work well being told what to do, ask me & I'll be glad to help. Besides just giving in to the bullying tactics what could I do? Please help
Thank you John

Mentor2 weeks agoHi @baldeagle*memorabilia
I don't know what the wording was for the message you received, but eBay isn't going to change a message that is used to automatically send to millions of seller just because you have a problem with how eBay notified you that you need to confirm your identity.
What I would do is comply by reviewing/updating my information and move on with my life. If you don't, you'll likely lose your selling privileges. This information is required by the IRS to be obtained by eBay. They aren't holding your funds "hostage," they are complying with the law. The information is required before they can transfer any more funds to your bank.

Mentor2 weeks ago · EditedThey are asking you.
You will get paid when you provide the information.
This is required by law, not something eBay is making up.
You agreed when you agreed to the user agreement and decided to sell.
