    Building a Listing from a very Old Unsold Listing

    eBay sets a limit of 90 days to look back at older Listings ... How does a User / Seller get around this? I don't feel I should have to re-create a Listing from scratch if I've already spent time creating the first Listing a mere 6 months ago ..??

    <editorialize on>

    As it's possible to purchase a 256 microSD chip for under 20USD, and as no User will ever go through that much storage, why have ANY kind of limit at all (I'm not ever going to exceed the amount of storage required to maintain pretty much ALL my historical data even going back to eBay's early days??)?

    <editorialize off>

    Thanks in advance for any helpful comments that anyone can offer ... PetrellaCT

    Hi @petrellact

    I noticed that you asked this question a year ago ... and were told then that eBay holds on to listings for only 90 days.

    It's not that eBay is hoarding these listings and stubbornly refusing to provide them to sellers.  eBay simply doesn't have the computer memory to hold onto the 1.7 billion listings it has (at any given time) for more than 90 days.  They are deleted and cannot be retrieved.

    I wouldn't be surprised if eBay had 1.7 billion subscribers, each with hundreds of listings ... but, as I said: storage is really, really cheap, so ... no good reason to not keep every subscriber's entire history.

    If my Listing app bonks on me, I should feel comfy that I can always retrieve my data from the online platform that uses this data.

    I use very specific wording in my listings to mitigate potential fraud ... I want access to my original data available to me in all platforms and all saved spaces.

    For the future, you can opt into the Out of Stock feature.  Once the listing gets to 0 quantity, your listing will stay available for several months.  The number of months escapes me at the moment, but it works for me.  I often don't know if I will be able to replenish inventory, so the Out of Stock option helps if I am able to replenish several months down the line.

    I keep all of my photos (back since I started selling in 2000) on an external hard drive, so if I need them, they are available.

    I keep copies of photos and descriptions in case I need them later.

    If you have the information, it just takes a couple minutes to set up a new listing.

    Thanks, I thought that I had saved the relevant information, but the database from which I tried to retrieve the data is presently inaccessible while developers of the Listing app I'm using are trying to correct errors with their app for me ...
