Bought from eBay seller, received package from Amazon
Bought an item on eBay, received the item from Amazon. Would've been cheaper to buy from Amazon (my fault for not looking)

Did you get what you ordered? If so, there should be no problem.
The item may or may not be cheaper on Amazon. The seller you bought from likely pays Amazon to store and ship their inventory as they tell them to. There of course is a price the seller pays for that, but the seller owns the inventory.

OP1 year agoIt was sent to me as a gift, so I doubt that the seller has any inventory. I think he offers the item for $55, buys it at Amazon for $42 and sends it as a gift, and keeps the difference. Doesn't sound legit.

Mentor1 year agoWell it is legit. Just not how you'd like to have had it go. I get it. Some sellers do this. Personally I don't think it is a good thing to do as they will always risk that the seller on Amazon may be out of stock.
But what I explained before is more common. The Ebay seller does actually own their inventory but they pay Amazon to stock and process the inventory for them.
I've done what you did too. It annoyed me as it was cheaper on Amazon. But that is on me, not the seller. They sent me exactly what I paid for, so they did their job. I simply didn't do mine well enough.

Mentor11 months ago@stillwildbill Buying an item on another site and sending at as Gift is against eBay policy. However enforcement of this policy by eBay is pretty non existent due to the nature of the violation.
Fulfilled by Amazon where the seller keeps their items in the Amazon warehouse IS allowed but the items do NOT come with gift receipts.
Dropshipping Policy
However, listing an item on eBay and then purchasing the item from another retailer or marketplace that ships directly to your customer is not allowed on eBay.
I recommend reporting the seller using this form> https://www.ebay.com/help/action?topicid=4022
violated one of eBay's policies> other Then say in the box that the seller droppshipped from Amazon as a Gift which is not allowed per the Drop shipping policy. I would also include the item number.
Don't go into more detail as the report is read by AI on the first go around.
