Both buyer and seller paid for expedited shipping
We listed some fabric on ebay and the buyer says she paid for expedited shipping, but that was not indicated on the ebay label so I did not buy that label. Instead, I paid for expeidted shipping via UPS. I want to get ebay to return the buyer's shipping fee to the buyer. How can I do that?

Your fabric listing clearly states the following for shipping: US $93.10 FedEx Ground / FedEx Home Delivery
The Buyer can ONLY pay for what you offer, if you did NOT offer expedited shipping then they can't buy that.
To be honest, I think the Buyer is trying to pull a fast one on you. If they paid for regular shipping per your listing then you keep that money towards the higher priced Expedited shipping label, it will help cut your loss on the shipping end of the transaction. They don't get that money back, just make sure you have tracking on the sold item for your protection.
Normally we advise Sellers to message Buyers asking them message back to cancel the transaction so the Seller can Relist with the desired shipping method you both agree to. Then the Buyer can purchase the item again.
I am seeing just over $ 93 to ship from your location in AR to me in PA ... I can't imagine how much the Expedited shipping will cost you???

Mentor6 months ago@shangrila33. Your listing had Fed Ex Ground Home Delivery. You should never change the shipping method from what is stated on the listing without asking your buyer.
All you can do now is apologize and refund any difference you paid by changing shipping methods if any.
The buyer can actually file a not as described return request if they wish as shipping is part of the description. You would be required to pay return shipping and refund 100%.

OP6 months agoThanks. The buyer requested expeditedd shipping, which ebay did not offer. So we did not use ebay shipping, but instead paid on this end. I have spoken to customer service and they agreed that the buyer's shipping should be refunded since it was not used. However, the buyer must request this, so I have communicated all this to the buyer. The buyer wants the fabric in any case.

Lets be clear on something on your listing and the shipping Buyers will pay, you wrote: " '.. which eBay did not offer. ...". eBay has nothing to do with how you set up the shipping setting on the listing. The shipping cost generated and shown to Buyers is based on YOUR information on the listing. If you took eBay's suggested weight and dimensions you are still responsible for accurate weight and dimensions before you list the item.

You use the buyers money that they paid to purchase a label. You can refund the buyer the DIFFERENCE if you paid less than the buyer paid on the listing.
You will get the money that the buyer paid for shipping in your payout.
