I have continual requests to provide a photo ID, and payments are withheld until I do. WHY? I've had it with eBay,... about to terminate after 29 years!

OP2 weeks agoSorry to confuse you with a bot,... went by your 2nd reply being identical to the 1st, and assumed auto-replies.
My bank, my credit union, eTrade, IRS, the VA, Chase credit cards, Medicare,... none of these require a "government photo ID".
I appreciate your time and effort. I will be closing my account. Ebay just isn't what it used to be.

OP2 weeks agoBeen doing this awhile,... understand the process. What I don't understand is the need for photo ID (1,500 perfect feedback, and no issues). eBay has no use for a photo ID.

Mentor2 weeks agoI have been selling since 2000 and since Managed Payments, I have been asked to resubmit my information 3 times I believe.
I hope your reference to a "bot" was not to me, because I am not a bot. All the mentor on this forum are either buyers or sellers or both, who have lots of years of experience on ebay.

Mentor2 weeks ago@maintz As @disneyshopper stated the request is due to the Federal Know Your Customer law that eBay is required to comply with. Here's how to reach an agent, but it won't change the need for the ID>>

Then Type Verify Checking account in the chat bot box on the lower right. (Do not add any additional information)Â Â
Then AGENT after the bot responds. You might have to repeat those steps.

Mentor2 weeks agoebay now uses Managed Payments to pay sellers. Have you submitted your SSN, driver's license, checking account, bank statement? These items are needed to comply with the government's KYC..Know Your Customer/Client. Once that is done, when the buyer pays and selects his method of payment (Paypal, credit/debit card, ApplePay or GooglePay) the payment goes to Managed Payments. When ebay tells you that the buyer has paid and you need to ship, you ship within your handling time. Meanwhile, MP processes the payment and sends it to the checking account you specified. Your bank then processes the payment, which can take 1-4 days before it actually credits your checking account.
