Bogus Tracking information
Summary: A participant initiated a discussion regarding bogus tracking information. jacbarcollectibles responded, but due to the lack of specific details in the content, the discussion did not progress significantly. The focus appears to be on addressing issues related to tracking information.
I purchased an item in a Auction and after paying for the item, the seller sent me a tracking number. The system has no record of the tracking number. Has anyone experienced this kind of problem?
Ebay's system makes it extremely difficult to report this type of seller scam. Wait until you don't recieve the item before you can open a case. Well if a seller is providing bogus tracking numbers they are obviously ripping people off. The longer ebay makes you wait to report it, the longer the scammer stays on ebay scamming other buyers. This makes no sense to me.

Mentor4 months agoIf the seller just messaged you the tracking number then they may not have purchased their shipping through eBay. if the seller purchases their label outside of eBay they should add the tracking information to the purchase but they cannot be forced to do this. Once it has been at least one day past the last estimated delivery date shown in your purchase history you can open an "Item not received" case for the item. You must open the case within 30 days from the last estimated delivery date. You cannot open the case until the delivery date has passed.
