I’m receiving emails telling me I’m “winning†a bid — regarding an item I would NEVER bid on. It “Does Not Workâ€. Very annoying. However I don’t see it listed in my “bid history†when I signed on, so I hope I’m OK. The listing also mentions that the seller’s reserve price has not been met.
Thank you for listening. These glitches could be expensive. One more of these and I will delete my account simply out of caution. Maybe Ebay is becoming a young person’s game.

·2 years agoScammers send out fake emails from "eBay" hoping to get you to click on links and/or give sensitive information when you are panicked at what the email says. If you clicked on any links in the email come back for more advice.
Check all My eBay sections where the listing would be if you (or someone with access to your account and/or device) actually placed it: Bids/Offers--both Bidding and Didn't Win--and also Purchase History where it would be if you won.

OP2 years agoOh, outstanding; thank you. I think I did go through their email link. Now I will change passwords out of caution. In addition to the email, now I see that the listing was on my “watchlist†and bids.I wrote to the seller, the situation is now resolved; I was ‘outbid’.
[Ebay, please don’t say I’m “winning†and “it’s almost yours†when the seller’s reserve has not remotely been met.]
My usual defenses were down re spam because 1. I’ve never once received spam at that email address (proton mail), 2. I was indeed involved in bids for a phone and 3. I had Won a bid and have Paid for it but not received it.
