Bidding on a buy it now, I bid over the buy it now price and bid didn’t work? No sign of it?
I placed a last minute bed on an auction that had a buy it now it was over the buy it now price and it would not let me bid? Why is this

Why would you bid an amount over the buy it now price instead of just purchasing for the lower buy it now price?

·2 years agoMost likely s/he was willing to pay more than the BIN but hoping to pay less. If your max is just a little over the BIN but the current bid is a lot under, it could be a good bet.
I think there used to be a button to bid anyway, but from what I hear they got rid of that, no idea why they wouldn't have one. This might be one of the situations where it would be to your advantage to place a minimum bid earlier in the auction to kill the BIN (unless it's in a Sticky BIN category, but even then placing one at 50% of the BIN should kill it if someone else bids 1 increment under 50% of the BIN or more) and then snipe at your true maximum.
