Bidding
How can I lose an auction to a bid higher than my best but less so than the increment for bidding? ex my bid 407.77 and the winning bid 411.55. The increment is $5. Shouldn't the winning bid have been 412.77? I am not sour about he loss, just curious to the actual process underlying the final result.

The winner bid one time and bid the maximum he was willing to pay. Each time someone bid after he did, he was moved up ahead of his competitor until either someone had entered a max higher than his or the auction ended.
If he had placed his bid AFTER yours, he would have had to bid one increment above your bid as you were expecting to see.
Look at the bid history and show automatic bids and you'll see the whole picture.
