Beware! ebay money back guarantee
Beware! If you buy an item with ebay money back guarantee.
I bought an item from india that had a +30 day estimated arrival. seller said item was held up at customs after 30days. I wanted the item and was not in a hurry so i decided to wait. A few weeks later after checking the item tracking number something was off. Seller agreed to a refund but i never got it. ebay would not cancel my order because it showed the item as shipped. It never arrived and the seller deleted or got kicked off ebay while i waited for the item refund. Cant get a refund from seller because thanks to ebays strict no contact outside ebay rules i have no other contact info for the seller when they cut ties with ebay. ebay wont refund my money because its after the 30 day window for returns. ebay paid the seller before my item even shipped and wont refund me because the window for Ebay guarantee is 30 days after the estimated arrival regardless if the item ships or not apparently. Seller got paid, ebay got paid, and i got nothing. 10 years and over 600 items with ebay means nothing to them.

OP2 years agothanks for your suggestion.
maybe someone else can learn from my experience with ebay's guarantee
I had a sense of security from ebays guarantee that kept me from taking action as soon as the item did not arrive on time and then again when the seller offered me a refund.
the seller agreed to a refund before the 30 days after ETA. I never got the refund from the seller before ebay deleted his account. I just feel if ebay wants to be the middleman they need to be accountable. In my case I might only be getting my money back thanks to American Express and no thanks to ebays guarantee.

Mentor2 years agoYou do not file a Returns Request because you have nothing to return. The correct case to file is Item Not Received. You have 30 days past the last estimated delivery date. If you paid with Paypal, you can file a case there as they allow up to 180 days from date of sale. As a last resort, file a charge back with your credit card company if that is how you paid.
