Best offers system sucks
Here uis why I hate the best offer system and why it provides a bad experience.
A) some ppl are jerks and will make an offer then if you counteroffer, they will counteroffer with something higher than their first offer. Good moral behavior should generally be encouraged which it is not.
B) sometimes buyers change their mind and regret not accepting an offer and are stuck waiting for a response after counter offering and even though it's the buyers mistake, i get it, but nobody benefits from the mistake and the mistake would be avoided if the system worked the way I think it should.
I think the system should keep all offers on the table meaning once you offer it the person can accept it at any time as long as the item is available. If there is a drawback to doing it that way where it breaks the system I'm trying to figure out what it would be.

OP1 year agosometimes I make a counteroffer and instantly regret it and wish to accept the offer I was given but can't after that. it sucks. since I don't see eBay or the seller benefitting from it, only other buyers do, I don't see why doing it my way wouldn't be superior for both buyers and sellers and eBay.

OP1 year agocounter offering should not include declining the offer first. Does that make sense? Like I just want to see if they will take less but if they won't then i want to be able to accept their first offer. This way ebay does it actually seems strange and it's causing pain so I'm getting the feeling something is amiss.

OP1 year agoHow so? Auctions work fine as is. I think making a counter offer to a seller whop is offering you a price, should not also count as you declining their offer. so, when you counter offer its still possible to accept the offer they gave you.
