Why do sellers say "or best offer" and when you send an offer they counter with the full price?

·3 years agoSellers don't say that, eBay does. Sometimes at the seller's express instructions, far too often against the seller's wishes. A counteroffer at the Buy It Now price is the latter's way of communicating that.
Or s/he might not want to give you a discount at this time though s/he might be more likely to give someone a discount in the future.
