Being able to see seller address before purchase to avoid duplicate shady sellers
Hello,
We frequently purchase expensive I/O logic components. Even if you filter on "Ships from U.S. only" it will still list sellers who are not actually located in the U.S. and do not in fact ship from a U.S. location. To compound matters - eBay clearly allows sellers to have duplicate accounts.
My question is - after purchasing an item you are able to then see the actual physical address of the seller (not just the base location like "Hong Kong" when you click on seller info). Is there a way to view this information prior to purchasing in order to avoid these shady duplicate accounts that dodge eBay seller regulations?

While this may represent some initial upfront work on your part you can actually EXCLUDE Sellers from your Search for listings. To the right of the eBay Search window is the Advanced link and if you click that and then scroll down to the Seller section you can use the drop-down menu beside the Seller ID box and change to Exclude. In the typing field you can enter Seller IDs separated by a comma and then complete your Search and save it too.
eBay is not going to show complete Seller addresses, that's just not going to happen. And yes, Sellers can have multiple accounts which in a lot of cases is the real issue, I personally wish eBay would limit this. Additionally, Sellers can change their Seller ID every 30 days although this I think is not as big of an issue as multiple accounts are.

You can check to see the country where the seller's account is registered by looking at the seller's feedback page, but even if a seller is registered in one location, the seller can still be shipping from another location. For instance, a seller registered in the US could still be drop-shipping an item from an overseas warehouse, or vice versa. A mismatch between seller registration location and shipping location generally indicates either drop-shipping or location misrepresentation, both of which you may want to avoid.
Looking at feedback closely can often provide valuable clues that the seller is drop-shipping or having problems delivering items in a timely fashion. Checking the estimated delivery date range can also provide clues that the seller is not shipping quickly or from a domestic location.
