Being a nice guy bites you
Purchased an item from a seller.
I received a box with packing material and a roll of tape instead of the vintage sewing machine I had bought. I immediately contacted the seller. Item was insured seller said to contact the PO. I contacted them and was told the seller needed to file the claim. Relayed the information to the seller. Seller claimed to have filed a claim. Kept checking back to see if there was a response, no there wasn't but wait because it may take a while. I offered to take an exchange seller asked to wait a while longer. 10 months into this and the seller gets indignant. At that point I ask for a refund and seller cuts off communication. Contacted eBay but the timeframe was too long. I can't leave feedback either so Its going on here. If you deal with this Seller, be prepared, they are a terrible seller. The one and only awful seller Ive encountered on eBay. So if you have an issue you are forced to take action right away, don't wait.
[Mod edit: Name of seller removed]

If you receive an item that does not match the description, file a "not as described" return and return the item at the seller's expense within thirty days. The process is automated; if the seller does not cooperate at any point, ask eBay to step in after three business days.

Mentor10 months agoSorry you did not get the item you ordered.
You needed to file a Return Request within 30 days of delivery.
You can contact the funding source you used to purchase the item to do a chargeback.

OP10 months agoThat's the sad thing. I tried to work with the seller , bent over backwards really. The seller asked for more time to resolve the issue, I obliged and got kicked in the teeth for it. Now eBay won't let me put their name up because the thief might be shamed. They need shamed !!

Mentor10 months agoThere is a big difference between on one hand: "being a nice guy", "working with the seller" and "bending over backwards"; and on the other hand: waiting ten months and "letting the seller walk all over you" until you have no options left.
If you use the tools that eBay gives you within the time frame that eBay allows, you can protect yourself and still work with the seller.
If you had gotten your refund within thirty days of the last estimated delivery date, you could have still arranged to pay the seller again if the item later arrived. Feedback could have been left within sixty days. Many credit cards offer some protection for up to six months from the date of purchase.
After waiting ten months, you have likely exhausted all your possible options.

OP10 months agoMy problem was the seller had a 100% positive rating and the PO can be a pain to work with so I assumed it would be safe to keep working with them. Yup, I have learned my lesson.

Mentor10 months agoHi @markr*123
We are NOT allowed to ‘name and shame’ another member under any circumstances … since eBay has no way to verify the truthfulness of what is said in a post.
Hopefully, you used a credit card to pay for the sewing machine. I would phone your credit card company and ask to speak to their Fraud Department. Describe exactly what happened and request a chargeback. [Getting your money back should compensate for not being able to ‘name’ a probable shameful scammer. ]

OP10 months agohadn't thought of that. Thank You!
