Why does Ebay require a bank checking account instead of a savings account to be able to create a listing?

Mentor1 year agoDepends on the type of savings account, but one workaround I found was to sign up for Managed Payments with a checking account first, then change it to a savings account.

A checking account allows eBay to take money out in case of a dispute.
That is not an option with a savings account.

Mentor1 year agoThat is a very good question. The company eBay has a contract with to process payments for them requires a checking account to send any payouts to so eBay really has no choice in the matter. eBay has taken on the duties of a payment processor itself but it does use a third party to assist them in doing this.
A further reason may be that checking accounts are considered as demand accounts and do not usually limit the number of transactions that can be processed. Savings accounts are a different kind of account and they can have limits on the number of transactions that can occur in the account each month.
