Badges, eBay membership, and ancient eBay sales records...
I recently had to settle a dispute, so I got on the eBay Community Forum. There I found "Badges" given for membership longevity, posts, etc. I got four badges for 4 years membership. I have been a registered buyer and seller on eBay since 1998. That's 26 years, and I noticed the highest year the badges seem to go up to is 15-year membership. So, why I only have a 4-year membership badge? That's a tad insulting after all these years on here. I also got into my account and feedback history, and I used to sell ancient Roman Imperial silver coinage when I first started on eBay, and there are NO records of that, or of any selling activity I did way back then. Just curious as to where all those records went? I've also been a member since 1998, and my "Member since; " title stated that. Now it reads "Member since 1999". Not even certain when it changed, and definitely uncertain as to why? And about feedback in general; I have close to 5,000 positive feedbacks, but my feedback score reflects only 3,000+. I realize that multiple feedbacks from repeat purchases may or may not be counted, something to do with "unique" feedbacks; but every transaction is a purchase or sale, money is spent and received, feedback is left, so why should those feedbacks NOT count? Just kind of curious.

Your ID here started 4 years ago in 2020 and as @comics-scifi-collectibles mentioned is separate from your eBay Selling account. You have a total of 7 Badges here as of this writing. If you plan to interact here moving forward then Badge count will slowly increase.
For you Feedback total count VS display count they will vary based on multiple item sales. So if a customer buys 10 things from you on one purchase your TOTAL FB counts gets all 10 but your displayed ID Feedback only gets 1.
There might be some other scenarios that affect what your displayed count is.

OP1 year agoThank you, sir, for your assistance. 99% of my total feedback score is feedback received as a buyer only.
That is what I was referring to when I stated that every transaction (as a buyer) should merit its own feedback as 'displayed' feedback; as each transaction cost the buyer money separately, so why shouldn't it merit separate displayed feedback?

I will have to look into that ... I seem to recall you are right as it relates to Buying on eBay. Buyers would get displayed credit for EVERY ITEM purchased opposed to how it works for Sellers.

Mentor1 year ago@kanokuntz It's hard to follow your post since it's a very long run on paragraph.
First off the ebay community is separate entity from the selling profile. This is why you will have different date ranges. Also the eBay community boards did a switch from one provider that was managing the community boards to a new 1 about 10 years ago or so a lot of history of the community was lost at that time.
The community records have nothing to do with your selling account.
The badges that you see on your community profile do not earn you anything they're just decorations that a focus group thought would make the community more fun somehow.
As for feedback on your profile I see your account was opened in 1999.
Feedback from the same buyer within 7 days does not increase your selling feedback score, it's always been counted as one. That is the way feedback has been recorded for as long as I have been selling since 2003.

OP1 year agoBelieve it or not, after 26 years on eBay, I believe that the issue that led me to this Community forum was my first visit here.
Sorry for the long run-on paragraph, I am a bit used to texting and other media, that just crams everything together no matter how I might format my text. I apologize.
I haven't been a seller here on eBay since my first-year membership. I am a collector of many things; comic books and Mad magazines (40 years), ephemera and historic newspapers (40 years), reproduction medieval weaponry (10 years), books (50 years), and assorted and sundry other curiosities.
Ebay has been a great source for my various collections. I love eBay for that reason.
I do appreciate your taking the time to help me find the answers to my questions about badges (which still doesn't make much sense to me; but since they are virtually meaningless, I don't care).
As far as feedback scores, I was referring to feedback from sales and/or purchases, not related to this Community, but which reflected my brief time as a seller of ancient Roman coinage; that I can no longer find.
Perhaps it has something to do with my membership date being changed from 1998 to 1999, for which I have no explanation.
