Bad faith bid retraction results in about 40% price increase
Only two bidders. The other person had zero history. They bid item up to about 40% above my opening bid. Bid history shows incremental increases until they prevailed, then 5 minutes later they retracted. It appears they never intended to purchase but the did make me pay 40% more with their behavior. Perhaps they just wanted to find my upper limit or perhaps wishing to benefit the seller ( a charity). This may be within the rules but its unfair- the price should revert to opening bid since other bidder showed their bidding was not legitimate. Abuse of process should not be rewarded. Ebay needs to introduce policy to defeat this - it cuts against the whole idea of an auction if other bidders can do this. Needed - penalty for abusers either bids are binding or they are not, and protection for buyers.
