Avoiding extra seller penalty on shipping to Alaska or Hawaii
I had an item listed to ship USPS ground advantage. The buyer lives in Alaska, as it turned out. The resulting shipping rate was based upon priority mail at a higher price. I begrudgingly went ahead and shipped the item despite the amount that I lost in covering that extra cost shipping because there is no Ground advantage to Alaska apparently. How can this expense be avoided. Is there a way to avoid the listing applying for Alaska and Hawaii?

·2 years agoI don’t know if it’s been implemented yet, but recently eBay added Peurto Rico to the list of destinations that can be shipped to using the eBay International Shipping (even though Puerto Rico is a US Protectorate and has zip codes), with the intention of also adding Alaska and Hawaii to this list. That will change this shipping issue to being more favorable for sellers. I’m not sure if you have to add those locations to your EIS destinations, though.
