Available funds
I sold an item for $62 +$15.45 S&H paid by buyer = $77.45 - $13.20 Fees = $64.25
Then there an $12.05 charge for label, which makes no sense to me, why I pay Ebay for me to print a label with my own printer and ink. However, why is my available funds only$39.03. This just does not make sense to me. Can someone explain, please.
Thanks,
Rhonda

OP3 years agothanks for all your help. but i can assure you i have learned a very valuable lesson. i am making only $39.03 for a brand new Coach bag...as soon as my other funds are available, i am out....and my other sale is just as bad...
thanks again,

·3 years agoI think you may be mixing the fees from other items and assigning them to this one item. Instead, look at all of your sales and deduct all of your expenses to see what you are actually making.

Mentor3 years agoThere is something missing from your math. $64.25 - $12.05 = $52.20, which would be the correct margin on this sale. You have to subtract another $13.17 to get to $39.03. There is something else that has been deducted. Maybe the label for your next sale?
Check your payment account for more details - look at the recent transactions on the right - https://www.ebay.com/sh/fin

OP3 years agoStill trying to get my numbers straight in my head. So you mentioned the extra $13.17 could be the label from my next order. Well that is the cost of the next label. Why would they take it out of this order instead of
the order it was intended for? And does that mean that I will get my net proceeds on the order that is pending now or will there be more fees?
thanks

Mentor3 years agoGreat - I'm glad you found the missing deduction.
The new label wasn't exactly taken out of this order - it was taken out of available funds. Funds from the new order are not 'available' yet - available means they can be paid out.
Looking at your payment account, you should see the net proceeds from the new order under 'processing'. Assuming you do not sell another item before those funds go to your bank, you will receive the full amount - no more fees.
If you sell another item and need to buy the label while the new order is processing, then that label will be subtracted from the available funds of order #2.
If the funds from the previous order had been paid out to your bank before you bought the next label, you would have seen available funds of -13.17. eBay will let you use the funds to buy the label, but it causes the 'available' amount to go negative.
You'll get used to it 🙂 You made $52 on the bag, not $39 - if you click on the payment, then click on the order #, you will see the net from that order.

The buyer paid you $15.45 for shipping, and you purchased that shipping label through eBay for $12.05, so you made some money on the shipping that you charged.
I see that you sold a Kavu in January and that it is again for sale.
Did you cancel the January sale and refund? If so, the refund would have come out of your available funds.
Did the buyer fail to pay? If so, you will need to cancel the sale as "buyer didn't pay" so that eBay will refund your selling fees on that one.

OP3 years agoThe Kavu sale was cancelled by me because the sellar never paid.

·3 years ago"Available funds" is more like a running balance. Multiple transactions can affect your available funds, so you will need to run the numbers on all of your recent sales to get to today's number.
I see that your accounting shows a shortfall of $13.17, which is about right for a selling fee or sales taxes.
64.25 - 12.05 = 52.20 (subtracting your shipping label from what you received).
52.20 - 39.03= 13.17 (finding the difference between the amount eBay says you will get and what you expect).
When cancelling that prior sale, did you wait over four days and select the reason as "buyer didn't pay"? If you did, then your fee will be refunded. If you didn't, then the fee will not be refunded.

The buyer paid YOU for your shipping charges, so you pay for the shipping label from the shipping charges the buyer paid.

OP3 years agoYes the buyer paid for shipping and I purchased the shipping label from my funds. However, my question is the total with shipping fee was $77.45 which is the value total Ebay got their fees from. that should have left $64.25. Why are my available funds on this sale only $39.03?
