Automatically combine shipping in cart before purchase
How to combine shipping (in cart, pre- payment) for buyers who purchase multiple items.( $.50 for each additional item)
I thought I set this up correctly, but it doesn't seem to be working

First, allow combined payments and shipping on that page.
Then there are two types of shipping rules:
- Flat rate rule (any number of rules), for when you list with flat rate shipping.
- Calculated shipping rule (one simple or any number of complex) when listing with calculated shipping.
When creating a listing, apply a rule to your shipping area.
I have found that fiddling with my calculated shipping rule while answering this question has erased it from all of my listings. Perhaps that has happened in your case.
