automated feedback
When eBay only lets the buyer leave *item* feedback, they only show "Automated feedback" on seller's feedback stream. There is NO WAY to leave feedback for the SELLER, this is infuriating.

Mentor8 months agoI was in the meeting when they discussed automated feedback and trust me, your feedback supersedes any automatic feedback. The wording was changed to item feedback, but it is the same feedback as before, for the item and the seller/transaction.

OP8 months agoInteresting. But it still isn't happening in this case, my written feedback is not showing up at all. It's been nearly 5 days, is it supposed to take a period of time for it to supersede the Automatic Feedback? I don't understand why it's not happening with these two reviews. The automated feedback also does not show the buyer's abbreviated username, so this seller thought I hadn't left feedback at all. It's only by the order number that I was able to positively identify the automated feedbacks for those items.

Is this the feedback?

OP8 months agoIs there any progress on fixing this issue? These feedbacks are STILL not showing on the seller's feedback stream. It's been nearly a week since I left the written feedback, yet it still ONLY shows "automated feedback" for her. Is this going to be fixed? In the future, it seems pretty useless to spend the time that I do, to write a thoughtful feedback for a great seller, if it is never going to show up. Why is this happening?

Mentor8 months agoThe seller has received multiple feedback for that multiple quantity listing; your feedback is there, it is just further down the page. If you sort by most recent and change to 200 items per page, scroll down until you see the first positive with a follow-up comment, it is there. Or else try searching the seller's feedback for the item number.

Mentor8 months agoAbsolutely, you can leave feedback within the timeframe. If automatic feedback has been 'left for you', only your actual feedback will show. eBay implemented this because only 30-40% of buyers leave feedback. This helps show sellers' number of successful transactions.

OP8 months agoI appreciate your reply. See what I wrote above. It is not working that way, and it has to be because eBay only gave that "review the item" option. I'm a buyer (and seller, but buyer in this case) who has been on eBay for 26 years and I have left feedback for every transaction. I take great care to write comments and I do it on the day I receive the item. That's true here too. I wrote lengthy feedback for this seller who deserved all the praise in the world, and none of it shows in her feedback stream. I believe that that is because eBay ONLY gave me the option to "review the item". I wrote thoughtful feedback about both the item and how great the seller was, and I CAN SEE it in my own "feedback left for others". But the seller only has that single line automated feedback, and she does NOT have automated feedback turned on, so that's not the reason.

< they only show "Automated feedback" on seller's feedback stream. There is NO WAY to leave feedback for the SELLER >
eBay leaves an automated positive for the seller when
• the item has been delivered
• there were no issues with the transaction
• the buyer has not left feedback
But even when eBay has posted automated feedback, the buyer can still leave a feedback himself, if it's within the sixty day window of course, and the buyer's feedback will override the automated feedback.

OP8 months agoThat is not how it seems to be working! I tried to leave feedback for a seller who went above and beyond, but when I clicked through to write that feedback, eBay would ONLY let me write review the *item*, so I did write a review and included comments about how great the seller was. Now, when you look at that seller's feedback stream, what you see is eBay AUTOMATED feedback with the single title, received on time with no issues. Period. That's it. No way I can change it, I even went into my "feedback left for others" (where I CAN see what I wrote) and left a *followup* comment to my feedback in the hope that it would show in the seller's stream. It does not.
So this is NOT a case where the buyer didn't leave feedback, because I did immediately after receipt. EBay is not showing what I wrote, they are showing it as automated feedback. I wrote and submitted my feedback five days ago, it has not overridden the automated feedback. How long should it take? Is it possible that it will somehow magically show my written feedback after more days or weeks? It seems like my review was diverted to their "Review the ITEM" thing and won't ever be shown as a comment on the seller. And that really is infuriating.

You have your feedback set to private which makes investigating difficult. But, I'd like you to try something, then come back and tell us if it worked. Go to that seller's feedback page. Look on the right hand side, just above the feedback comments, for a place that says "Sort By" and I suspect that just below that, it will say Most Relevant. Click the down arrow and toggle the sort to Most Recent. Then look for the feeback you left. That seller might be a super high volume seller; if so, your feedback might be pushed down quite a ways, but be persistent. Good luck.

OP8 months agoI appreciate your help. I did that. I wanted to find exactly what was shown there, for my items, and I found them right away. It was two items, and both of them show there as "automated feedback". Both of them, when I gave feedback, only gave an option to "review the item". And when that happens (this is not the first time), where it says "Review the Item", it says "New!" Like this is some spectacular new option, but it displaces the ability to review the seller, and I hate it. Until today, I didn't know that it eliminated my written feedback in the seller's feedback stream.
So yes, under most recent, my two items are there and are even highlighted (to me) with a link to the item. And they both only have the automated one-line feedback--and does NOT show the abbreviated username of the buyer who left it! That's why she thought I had not left feedback for her at all. I will go change my feedback so it's not private, so you'll be able to see it there under Left for Others. There, it does show the seller's handle and looks like any other feedback, but not so for the seller. I truly am grateful for your help on this!

OP8 months agoShould add, order number for both items is 205967454768 (it was a combined shipping invoice) and seller is

If the automated feedback still shows on the seller's feedback page for that transaction, you have not left feedback yet; as long as you received the item less than sixty days ago you should be able to leave feedback.
Try leaving feedback here:

OP8 months agoI *did* leave feedback on January 17, for both items, and the reviews *are* visible in my "Left for Others". It's there for me, not for the seller, who still only has the automated one-line version in her feedback. Both written reviews of January 17 are there in my Left for Others, and I left a followup today to try and prod it through somehow but it is not helping.
