auto paid
there was no Best Offer on link..I asked seller a question ; he was asking $50,I asked would you accept $40,no reply for about 24 hrs,I bought another similar item.then seller generates an auto paid for the said $40.never recontacting me prior,no invoice..I just asked a question..he said it shipped and no returns..what the..Ebay will be notified.I told him I'll send it back unopened,he said no.any recommendations other than what I'm doing? Ps: watch out for auto paid

Auto-pay is a Seller setting and they can turn it on or off for Offers and Auctions. As you already learned it requires a payment method to be entered before sending or receiving an offer on eBay. You have one hour after an accepted offer by either party to change the payment method but either way you are charged.
You apparently sent an offer, not just a message ... check your purchase history to see if the item is there: Purchases | My eBay | eBay
You are protected by the eBay Money Back Guarantee for 30 days from receipt:

The No return policy is limited to remorse returns but other reasons would allow you to have eBay provide a pre-paid return shipping label and the Seller would have to refund you within 2 days for getting the item back. If they don't you can go to the return claim and ask eBay to step in.
Offers on eBay last for a preset period of time, Sellers can accept those offers anytime during that time period, even in the last second. Sellers also do not have to respond to messages, smart one will but not all Sellers do nor does eBay force them to.
The Seller is blind to anything you do elsewhere on your account, all they saw was that you sent an offer and it was accepted.
