·1 year agoThe requirement for pre-authorization of automatic payment for auction bids is still in testing. Besides a seller being able to opt his/her listings out of it, not all auctions (and not all bidders) are part of the test group.
You don't "stop that" other than by buying up a large enough chunk of eBay Inc. stock and installing a Board of Directors with ending it as a priority. It is to make sure you will pay. You can try to find a seller/auction that does not require it (if you don't get a confirmation screen with sections to set your payment method and shipping address that auction is not part of it).

Mentor1 year agoThe seller controls whether a payment method is required in advance to place a bid on that seller's auctions, or to submit an offer for that seller's listings.
