Authenticator responsibility when mailing to buyer
Hello all!
I need some clarification on this if anyone could chime in I would be very grateful. I recently sold an expensive jewelry item and it has to go to the authenticator first. I realize that I am paying shipping charges and signature confirmation per the label order , however, it says I am not fully covered. Yes, the item sold for over $750 so when the authenticator process is done, does this person , the authenticator ship the item insured for full value to the buyer? Who bears the responsibility if the item is lost from the authenticator's shipping? I print my labels from my printer with the Ebay logo . Thanks for any help on clearing this up.

This angst is the very reason I won’t sell expensive items online. (My personal listing limit is $150)
Throw in the sentimental factor on personal pieces, I just don’t have the nerves for it.
Once the item reaches the authenticator, they take responsibility for it.
Not all of your items (oh my nerves, the most expensive bracelet) will go through the authentication center.

OP10 months agoGood day and thanks for the reply back. I called an Ebay rep earlier and he said the authenticator is responsible but here's the rub.... and I mentioned this to the representative.... how does the authenticator ship to the buyer? Who is the carrier delivering these shipments ? He did not mention all of the deilvery services but he said Fed Ex is one that is used. Also, if person with average intelligence who works for any of these delivery services are picking up and delivering items from the authenticator, one would reasonably expect that there are valuable articles in the packages. So , you have got to assume that maybe , but not all carriers, have honest employees. It's a real conundrum so to speak. I just hope and pray for the best outcome. Yes, it's nerve wracking to say the least. Take care .
