Authenticate item after delivery of eBay ‘authenticated’ item
Question about buying a Rolex watch on eBay that goes through the eBay authentication service. After it is delivered to me, am I able to take it to the Rolex Service Center to authenticate it and return it if they say it is not authentic? Regardless of seller return policy.
I read elsewhere there is a strap that the eBay authentication service puts on the watch that says no returns if removed. So I didn’t know how this would work.

Mentor2 years agoOnce an item goes through the authentication service and passes it is considered as authenticated and eBay will not accept any other authentication opinion. Some items that are authenticated can be returned and others cannot. Any allowed return would have to go back through the authenticator to see that the item has not been tampered with and is in the same condition as when it was authenticated. If it has been changed you cannot return it.

OP2 years agoThanks for the reply. Wow that is interesting. Are the eBay Authenticators qualified to identify all the parts of a watch movement as genuine OEM? I was under the impression they just looked at the outside of the watch and didn’t open it to review the mechanical parts inside. Do you know?
