auction multiple items
I have four identical items I want to auction. Buyers may want one or two or three or all four. How are bids handled?

I would like to add, that going for a Buy it Now listing will be much easier to deal with that listing multiples of the same item for Auction. Not to mention, you can setup quantity discounts, etc, along with Make Offers.
If it were me, and I wanted to do them as an auction, then list them individually. I did this once recently with 3 of the same item, but I made sure that each listing had their own photos, as there were small differences. (serial numbers for one). That way buyers don't think you are trying to list multiple listings of one item and it seems fishy.
One more reason to do a Buy it Now. Plus you can have it setup at a price you would like to get, but have the offer option to make the buyer feel like they can make a deal for it. Make sure to setup your shipping costs and if you can, offer returns. It makes the listing more attractive.
Good luck!

OP2 years agoThank you for the information. The items have been listed BIN for a while with almost no interest. I guess there's not much demand for specialized and/or obsolete equipment. I will make one more effort.

·2 years agoFor auction you have to list each separately or in (separate) lots of x. There used to be multiple item auction listings a/k/a "Dutch Auctions" but it was too confusing for most bidders and sellers and was done away with years ago. Do NOT mention any quantities of items in an auction listing other than the one(s) being sold in that listing. You can make Second Chance Offers to losing bidders (at the amount of the recipient bidder's highest bid) who have not opted out of receiving offers from sellers for the duplicate items (duplicate lots if you listed it that way; with 4 items if you set up the auction for a lot of 2 you would have one additional lot of 2 to make SCOs on).
For fixed-price listings (no auctions, but can have a Best Offer option) you can set up multiple item listings where the buyer specifies the number of items being bought (or offered for).
