Mentor2 years agoThe auction countdown you see on your computer is not a real-time display of bids that eBay receives. There can be a delay between when eBay receives a bid and the bid is timestamped by eBay and when that bid appears on the pages of bidders throughout the world.
Did you bid the maximum you were willing to pay? If you did, the only way you could lose is if someone else was willing to pay more than you and bid that amount before the auction ended, or if someone bid the same amount before you did.
You should expect that other bidders will bid at the end of the auction without leaving enough time for you to bid again, and set your bid amount accordingly. Everyone has the same amount of time to place a bid, and there is no need to wait until you are outbid to bid your maximum amount.
It is not the last bid that wins, it is the highest bid.
