Asking seller a question
Recently I needed to ask a seller a question regarding the status of my item. The only way I could was opening a case. The buyer in turn asked me to close the case because it hurt their sellers rating. I obliged, because at the time, I was only asking for an update. Fast forward, and it has been a month and a half, and my item has still not arrived. I did order it from overseas, and I am aware that the tariffs have made everything arrive much slower at customs, however it seems that I no longer have any recourse through Ebay. I find it ridiculous that Ebay forces buyers to open a case simply to ask sellers a question. As in my case, as it wasn't warranted at the time, so now that I feel I may need it, I am simply out of luck. Has anyone ran into this scenario before?

You should be able to use the "contact" link in the listing or in your purchase history to contact the seller, though not every seller responds to questions.
You should have waited to open a case when it was actually warranted, rather than opening one early and then closing it. Once closed, a case cannot be reopened.
You may still have recourse through your payment method.

OP11 months agoI went to my order, and picked contact seller, it then gave me an option to ask seller a question. I picked that option. To go further to ask the question it made me select the option of ask for a refund or replace. I did not see anywhere where there was an option to just ask the seller a question, and I did look.

Mentor11 months agoIf you use the "contact seller" link in your Purchase History you should wind up on a page with some options like "Details", "Shipping" and "Returns". Below that should be a line at the bottom that says "Still have questions?" and a link to "Contact seller". If you use that you have the option to send a message without opening a case.
Click on the "Send message" text line to enter your message text, and click on the paper airplane icon to send the message.
