Asking for eBay to review their current communication systems to protect customers
Summary: sheasi86 purchased an item in November 2025 from a seller, intending to resell it. Upon inspection by a friend in September 2026, they discovered the SSDs were counterfeit, with features not found in authentic Samsung products. sheasi86 reported the issue to highlight potential fraud to eBay and suggested improvements in eBay's communication and reporting systems due to glitches affecting their ability to report the problem. They seek guidance on how to proceed with this situation.
I purchased this item 24th November 2025 from seller golf-accessories-store / xiep-31 . In aims to resell it, however I was unable to find a buyer for it, so it was kept in the box until I decided to give it to a friend, who is also a technician.
Upon his inspection between 19th and 20th September 2026, this month, he realized that the outer cases of the two SSDs were Samsung cases, however the boards had a red light blinking, which is not a feature that authentic Samsung SSD boards have. My friend inspected the other SSD to find that this was also a counterfeit samsung SSD board.
Therefore I am claiming that I was sold a counterfeit item. I am well aware that this is past a year, however, I want to bring this to eBay's attention in case other customers may have experienced the same.
Please see the photos provided.
I suggest that eBay redesigns it's ai chatbot, mend the app( because due to the characters that the seller has in his name, I was unable to submit the report; which is a glitch Google explained to me ) and redesigns it's contact methods in deal with issues like this. This is a major glitch that is causing many customers of eBay to be the victims of fraud.
In my situation how can I move forward?

If you login to ebay the classic way on your device's browser, instead of using the app, you may have better luck reporting your issue.
As far as reporting items as being counterfeit, they are reviewed by A.I. which often cannot tell if an item is counterfeit or not. In this case due to the length of time since the item was sold, the specifics of the listing are not available to be reviewed. eBay only keeps the descriptions and photos of a listing for 90 days after it has been sold, so there would not be a way for the listing to be reviewed by a real person much less A.I.
Reporting the seller now will not be possible since so much time has passed. There may have been feedback comments saying the seller was incorrectly listing items or selling counterfeit ones, but that is something you should have checked before making the purchase.
