Asking about Sandals that Fell Apart
Summary: astrotater faced an issue with a pair of sandals that started falling apart after being used for the third time. Despite being past the return policy period, they sought help from both the manufacturer and the seller but received no assistance. jacbarcollectibles responded, indicating that there may be limited options available due to the elapsed time, as eBay's money-back guarantee and most payment protections only cover purchases for a limited duration.
Heya, I have an unusual situation and I don't know what to do. I ordered this pair of sandals late February, because I tend to buy off-season so I save a little money. I was not able to fully test the sandals until the weather warmed up, and it's been quite rainy here. Their return policy was at the end of April. I wore these shoes for the third time, and they started to fall apart on their own when I was out in public. The shoes were stored in my front closet along with my other sandals. I tried contacting Birkenstock, and the company said that there was nothing they could do as the manufacturer and I had to go back to the seller. I tried contacting the seller with this photo and my order information, to see if they'd make an exception or a credit or something, but I didn't receive any communication back. This pair was about $100, and I am just gutted that this happened--it's a lot of money for a trusted brand! What do I do? Is there anything I can do? Anything I'm missing? Advice and help is sorely needed. Thank you.

Mentor1 week agoJust to add, I am also really surprised the manufacturer, while not obligated to do so, was not more accommodating, unless the sandals were obviously abused or already old and dry rotting, etc.
Is there no manufacture date code on them. If current I'd try posting on their media page and/or see if others have had the same experience. Certainly not good press if this is the quality of their products.

Mentor1 week agoSorry this happened but here is little you can do now. eBay's money back guaranty is only good for 30 days from receipt of the item. Most payment sources will only cover a purchase for no more than 180 days from payment so this time limit has most likely also passed.
