many customers are not leaving feedback. is this the new normal?

I think a lot depends on Buyers in different categories. For almost 8 years running Buyer Feedback has consistently been between 50%-60%. I leave FB for my customers the day the item ships, then I don;t have to deal with it or see any reminders about it. I don't ask for it, I don't put notes in packages about it, I let it happen (or not) naturally.

FB that Buyers leave tells you a lot about what you are doing right so what I see that gets repeated are:

-Fast shipping

-AS described

-Packed carefully and securely

Some of the comments that have stuck out over time are things like:

-Bomb proof packaging! (twice from2 different Buyers LOL)

-Better than expected

-Better then pictured

-Refunded partial shipping costs

-Would buy from again

So your FB helps tell you what you are doing right and wrong. The package a Buyer gets is really their true "first impression" of you. If the box looks good and the item is packaged securely that goes a long way with people. I've gotten some horrendous packages from Sellers over the years but as a Buyer if the item is undamaged, as described I give them Positive FB. If there are issues I contact them and work things out and then leave Positive FB although issues have been rare. I remember one package that I could not believe the item arrived undamaged AND there were empty bread bags used for packaging material with bread crumbs, empty plastic shopping bags, etc. ... they still got Positive FB.
