Approximate Location in Sign In Email
Summary: trustrdp inquired about discrepancies in the approximate location shown in eBay sign-in emails, noting that the location sometimes reflects a different country or city than their actual location. They mentioned a community discussion suggesting that this information might be provided by the network provider and asked for clarification on how eBay determines this location. They also questioned if this discrepancy affects account security or standing.
Hi,
I have a quick question about the approximate location shown in eBay sign in emails.
Sometimes the email shows a different country or city from my actual location. For example, it may show the United States or Turkey even though I am not there.
I noticed that eBay Community mentions that this location can be provided by the network provider.
Can someone please clarify how eBay determines this approximate location and whether it is normal for it to show an incorrect country or city?
Does this have any impact on account security or account standing?
Thank you.

The location in the email is for your review, to be sure it's you logging in. It's from the ISP network.
Do you use Starlink or a VPN to log in?
Both can cause your location to be off.
I suggest not using a VPN for eBay.
